| Since our inception in 1983 as La Torta Vera ("the true torte"), a branch of Bar Italia restaurant, we have produced specialty Italian pastries and bread from our tiny location at Arco & Taylor. After major remodeling in 1999, we reopened as La Dolce Via ("the sweet way"), an independent family business run entirely by a mother-daughter team.
Our mission is to produce baked goods of a higher caliber than what is currently offered in St. Louis, focusing on excellence in every aspect. In addition to our gourmet Italian line, we serve an array of American café favorites, including cinnamon rolls, scones, and baguettes made fresh daily.
Everything from the ladyfingers to the chocolate syrup is made from scratch, using traditional European methods and the finest ingredients. The uniqueness of our recipes stems from our European influence, yielding irresistible delicacies like scones made with fresh cream, or sweet potato pound cake with cinnamon créme Anglaise.
